How to keep your cat slim?

Taking care of your cat's weight could be very important. Overweight cats are at increased risk of cancer, diabetes, high blood pressure, and injury, as well as heart, respiratory, and kidney disease. Help him so he doesn't have extra weight.

How to keep your cat slim?

1. The king of the gym.

Jumping and digging on scratching posts are great ways for your cat to stretch, tone muscles, and burn calories. Install cat-sized shelves on the walls of your home and a scratching post.

2. Games with other partners.

Encourage your cat to play at least 20 minutes a day to improve his physical condition. Drag a toy or flashy object for him to chase. Consider having another feline in the house for them to play with and exercise in, even when you're not around.

3. A proper diet.

If your vet determines your cat is already overweight, consider reducing portion sizes or switching to a lower-calorie food. Another option is to fill a special ball with dry cat food, your cat will need to roll the ball for the food to come out.

4. Move outdoors.

Train your cat to walk outdoors on a leash and harness: it will exercise while staying safe from dangers such as other animals or cars. Something different? Swim. Contrary to popular belief, cats can be taught to swim. This activity increases physical condition and allows, if your cat is overweight, to exercise with less stress on their joints.

5. Make it competitive.

Competitive play encourages your cat to move more. It can be done through an agility course that includes ramps, steps, poles, tunnels, and hoops. You can start at home and then consider entering competitions. This activity fosters emotional bonds and improves your physical condition.
